Why does my PDF look different from what I see in Vellum’s Preview?

In Vellum, you may see slight differences from your final PDF when viewing your book in Draft mode.

Draft mode is optimized for speed, and gives you a good idea of what your text will look like. It does not, however, include all of the Automatic Layout features that Vellum employs to generate your final PDF. To inspect the final layout of your book, you can switch to Proof mode:

In Proof mode, the Preview will exactly match the final PDF.

Proof mode can be a bit slower, so we recommend only using it when accuracy is important, and switching back to Draft mode whenever you need to make significant changes to your book.

You can learn more about Automatic Layout for Print in Vellum Help.
